Brian Howes has created quite the fruitful career for himself in the music world, and has worked with some large names in the industry. A few of his recent projects include collaborations with Keith Urban, Linkin Park, 1OK Rock (featuring Kiiara), Blackbear, Jasiah, Boys Like Girls ("Two is Better Than One,” featuring Taylor Swift), American Idol’s Chris Daughtry and David Cook, Scott Helman, Bang Bang Romeo, The Static Shift (Produced and Co-wrote first single, “1965”, that reached the Top 20’s), Haley and Michaels (produced and co-wrote single “Hail Mary”, which was at US Country radio and was just made the theme song for the San Fransisco 49ers), Jonathon Roy, and ILoveMakonnen.

 

Brian Howes has acquired his fair share of accomplishments during his action-packed time within the music industry. Amongst his many career-based accolades, it is the highlights of his career that set him apart. Some of those highlights being his joint venture partnership between Howes and Jimmy Iovine (Interscope Records), called VanHowes/Interscope Records, in which their first signing was Rev Theory. Theory would go on to sell over 500k records in the US, with 1st single “Hell Yeah” going Top 10 at radio with 70 million streams. Following, was their second signing, A Thousand Horses, going #1 at US Country Radio.

 

Howes kept up this momentum with his next joint venture partnership with Roger Faxon, (EMI Music Publishing), called, NobodyHome/EMI Publishing. Their first and only signing was Nashville Producer/Songwriter Chris DeStefano, who would go on to achieve 14 #1’s at US Country Radio, including songs with Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Miranda Lambert.

As Howes continued to prove his worth amongst his peers, he began teaming up with big names, such as Big Loud’s and Florida Georgia Line’s manager, Kevin “Chief” Zaruk, and 604 Records’ CEO, Jonathan Simkin, in hopes to create a music-based reality TV show, which ended up being sold to NBC and is currently under production in Europe. 

When it comes to his musical abilities, aside from the business world, Howes channels his talents into production and songwriting. To name a few of the monstrous projects that Howes has worked on: 

  •  Producing and co-writing album Love Drunk for Columbia artists Boys Like Girls, whose first two singles "Two is Better Than One” (featuring Taylor Swift) and “Love Drunk,” both went Top 5 in the US and sold more than 4 million singles. The album went on to become certified Gold in the US.

  • Co-writing the song “This Is Love” for the band For King And Country; the album won a Grammy for Christian Album Of The Year. 

  • Producing and co-wroting rock band Skillet’s album, ‘Comatose,’ which went on to be a Grammy nominated and certified Platinum song in the US. Howes also co-wrote their #1 single, "Awake and Alive,” and produced their album, Unleashed, which went Platinum in the US, with its Number 1 single “Invincible,” going Double Platinum.

  • Producing Simple Plan's Platinum release ‘Get Your Heart On,’ which spawned the worldwide #1 Multi-Platinum smash, “Summer Paradise” feat. Sean Paul. First single "Jet Lag" feat. Natasha Bedingfield also went Top 10. 

  • Co-writing, producing, and working on the A&R team for Hinder Extreme Behavior (4 million sold worldwide), including single “Lips of an Angel,” which went #1 on multiple formats, and the CHR US charts for 3 weeks. He continued on with this success as a Writer, Producer, and A&R for the Hinder 2nd release, Take it to the Limit (certified Platinum in the US).

  • Producing Nickelback’s album ‘Here And Now,’  which went on to sell over 1.5 million copies in the US and 2 million worldwide. 

  • Co-writing Country artist Jack Ingram single “Lips Of An Angel,” which went Top 10 on the US Country Charts. In which The Voice contestant Andrew Sevener recently cut and released “Lips Of An Angel”, making it to the Top 10 on iTunes in the US.

  • Writing multiple songs with Chris Daughtry, including “Over You” and "What I Want" on his 8 million selling debut album, which is the biggest in history for a debut rock band. Both songs went Multi-Platinum and Top 5 on multiple formats at US radio. Additionally, claiming two more songs on Daughtry’s follow-up Platinum selling release.

  • Co-writing American Idol winner David Cook’s first single, “Light On,” with Chris Cornell (1.5 million records sold in the US alone and certified Platinum single), for which Howes went on to win a 2010 BMI Pop Award.

Awards Include: 

  • Grammy Award for Warner Recording Artist For King And Country.

  • 2 Billion Streaming award from Pandora. 

  • SOCAN International Achievement Award for Songwriting. 

  • Two Juno awards for Producer Of The Year, (Canadian Grammys) as well as being nominated five times. 

  • Swept 2008 BMI Pop Awards with four big wins, including top honor "Song of the Year", as well as Top Digital Song for “Lips of an Angel”. 

  • Nominated for a Grammy Award for Skillet in 2008.

  • “Lips Of An Angel” held the title of "Biggest Selling Rock Ringtone in History" for twoyears, edging out AC/DC. 

  • Seven BMI Pop Awards for work with American Idols Chris Daughtry and David Cook, as well as for rock band Skillet. 

  • Several #1 SOCAN awards for various projects.
