Nashville Scene Votes Dave Cobb as Producer of the Year!
“Dave Cobb isn’t the kind of producer who — like, say, a Nigel Godrich or Daniel Lanois — superimposes a signature aesthetic imprimatur on the records he helms. He’s the kind who, like a musician whisperer, makes artists like Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell comfortable in the studio, draws their best performances out of them and gets out of the frame before taking a snapshot. He produced Southern Family — a compilation of original tunes from collaborators the likes of Miranda Lambert and Shooter Jennings — and released it on his Elektra Records imprint Low Country Sound. He garnered even more acclaim producing albums by Lake Street Dive, Rival Sons and Anderson East. And he took over operations of from-wrecking-ball-saved RCA Studio A from Ben Folds.”
